A $1,000 Charter gift enrolls you as a Life Member and recognizes you as part of the Society’s Charter Members and Founding Circle. The scholars, educators, public historians, and supporters whose early investment helps shape what SBMS will become for generations.

Charter Members receive lifetime membership, exclusive discounts on SBMS programming and events, and formal recognition: your name will appear in SBMS materials as a Charter Member/Founder (unless you prefer to remain anonymous). This is more than a membership level, t is a lasting legacy within a growing community dedicated to advancing Black military studies worldwide.

Refunds and Cancellations (Membership Dues)

Membership dues are nonrefundable because benefits and access begin immediately and dues support ongoing programming and operations. Memberships are non-transferable. Members may cancel at any time to prevent future renewal; however, cancellation does not create a refund for the current membership term, and benefits remain active until the term ends.

Refunds may be provided only in the following circumstances: (1) duplicate payments; (2) billing errors; or (3) other exceptional situations approved at the organization’s discretion. Where applicable, payment processing fees may be nonrefundable.
